A Century Ago: The Great Kantō Earthquake and the Devastation of Yokohama

​​​​​​​At two minutes before noon on September 1, 1923, the Kantō region of Japan was rocked by an earthquake that destroyed Yokohama and most of Tōkyō, killing an estimated 140,000 people. 

On the 100th anniversary of the Great Kantō Earthquake, historian Glenn Scoggins draws on years of learning about the tragedy to share some thought-provoking insights.
