横浜大空襲
Thursday, May 29, 7:00 PM
Venue: YC&AC Multi-Purpose Room
Speaker: Glenn Scoggins
Eighty years ago, Yokohama was destroyed by one of the deadliest aerial attacks in all of World War II. On May 29, 1945, over 14,000 humans were killed—children, students, housewives, factory and office workers—and the center of the city was laid waste. Wave after wave of war planes dropped thousands of tons of explosives, creating a firestorm that devoured people and property indiscriminately. Only 22 years after the city was devastated by the Great Kantō Earthquake, Yokohama fell victim yet again—not to a natural disaster but to the destructive power of industrialized warfare.
The talk will be in English and will be followed by a Q & A session. Maximum capacity at the YC&AC venue is 54 people. To attend, please complete the form at the link below.
