1872 in Yokohama was a busy year, especially since it only lasted for eleven months. Human rights, freedom and equality, and the abolition of slavery—everything began with a typhoon in the Pacific. 1872 was the year when a Yokohama hometown hero struck down human trafficking and emancipated outcastes and geisha, all in one stunning judgement.
